How to ensure tattoo artist copies design well?

My friend is designing a tattoo for my forearm. But he's not a tattoo artist so obviously he can't put it on me himself. How can I make sure that the tattoo artist will get the design right? I don't suppose there's a way they could trace it . . .
If the artist can trace it, does my friend need to draw it on a special kind of paper?

Any professional artist should be able to handle it, but they first transfer the image onto your skin with a sort of temporary tattoo and then use the gun over it, so you can see ahead of time if something doesn't look right in the image.
